CDMX.- The city of London lives unprecedented misfortunes. Through a cyberattack, a group of terrorists managed to cause the River Thames to overflow its banks and a high-speed train to crash. What is behind all this?

Unraveling this intrigue will be the work of the spy Gabriel Delage (Vincent Cassel) and the detective Alison Rowdy (Eva Green) in Connections, an action and suspense series that will arrive this Friday on Apple TV +.

The protagonists, who were once a sentimental couple, must prevent further attacks that jeopardize the safety of the inhabitants of London and other cities. Unintentionally, they will be involved in the mission of saving and anticipating possible attacks.

“What you need (in a story like this) is tension and you have to sustain it. You can’t lose it at any time. If not, the viewer leaves and you lose interest. What we have to identify is how to achieve it and that fascinated me about Connections. You make cars explode, robberies occur, whatever, but a greater power catches you, which is that of love, feeling, understanding.

“Sexual tension is obvious, it is necessary. What cannot be communicated with text you give with a scene, with acting, and that generates a unique interest,” Cassel said in a virtual link from Paris.

A story full of suspense

In the story, Gabriel is a lonely man, dedicated to his work and committed to helping deserters from terrorism or protected witnesses. Alison, for her part, is married, is an exemplary stepmother and lives dedicated to her work analyzing damages in possible tragedies.

He is almost killed in a secret mission, where he has to rescue refugees, and her family asks for more time and attention, since she is always working.

“I think this show is very realistic and it approaches my character’s work from a very human point of view. It’s very close to the loneliness of people who do this kind of work. There’s nothing glamorous about making a mercenary , to a spy. It’s very lonely, very dark and dangerous. I could die alone in the Syrian desert and no one would know,” said the actor from The Purple Rivers.

The title of Connections refers to the link between institutions or people, and what can happen because of the attraction or repulsion they feel towards each other. The personal history between Gabriel and Alison is precisely what triggers many of the crossroads in the plot of the series.

“I’ve always had a great fascination with her (Green), as an actress, for a long time. And we had never been able to be together. When she said yes to the project, it was a huge draw for me.

“I was curious about her and she said the same thing about me. I recognize myself through her. I think she can be a female version of me, or I can be the male version of her,” Cassel said. .

Spoken in English and French, the series consists of six episodes that will be released weekly starting this Friday.
