According to a new census by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the war in Ukraine has left at least 6,884 civilians dead and 10,947 injured.

According to the latest figures published on Tuesday by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), nearly 7,000 civilians were killed in the country attacked by the Russian army in February 2022.

A total of 6,884 civilians died, mostly in explosions or shelling. OHCHR lists 429 children killed and at least 1,832 women dead. These deaths are concentrated mainly in the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, in the east of the country, specifies the UN.

OHCHR reports that most of the civilian deaths recorded were caused by “the use of explosive weapons with a wide range of action, including heavy artillery fire, multiple rocket launchers, missiles and air strikes .”
