Lhe EU-Ukraine summit on February 3 will take place in Kyiv, not Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office said after a phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday.

For the EU, only Ms von der Leyen and Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, will participate. There will therefore be no head of state or government, said a spokesperson for Mr. Michel ten days ago.

With the summit now taking place in Kyiv, speculation about another foreign trip by the Ukrainian president can now cease. Mr. Zelensky’s visit to Washington in December was his first abroad since the invasion of his country began.
