Indeed, presented today, Thursday, December 29, 2022, during the morning, to the public prosecutor without the presence of his lawyer, who was not informed of the date of his presentation to justice. Journalist Ihsane El-Kadi refused to appear without a lawyer.
After 05 days in police custody, the director of Radio M and Maghreb Emergent has just been remanded in custody, facing four charges related to the law on fundraising and receiving money from abroad without a license.
Ihsane El-Kadi arrested since last Saturday
Indeed, the journalist was arrested on the night of last Friday to Saturday, around half past midnight in his secondary residence in Zemmouri in the wilaya of Boumerdès by 6 plainclothes police officers.
Shortly before this arrest, the latter had been invited by telephone around 10 p.m. to go to the Antar barracks of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI). However, the journalist informed them that he could not move because he was far from the wilaya of Algiers. Two hours later, six police officers in two vehicles came to his home and asked him to follow them.
During the evening of this same Saturday, December 24, agents of the Algerian General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI), accompanied by the handcuffed Ihsane El-Kadi, carried out a search and seizure of computer and filming equipment, before to seal the premises and leave the premises.
