A man was seriously injured by bullets this Sunday afternoon in the town of Mornas, near Orange, in the Vaucluse, by gendarmes after having threatened them, we learned from sources close to the investigation and of the gendarmerie. This man would have rushed towards the gendarmes who were approaching for a check, brandishing an iron bar, a knife.

The identity of this man, hospitalized in serious condition, has not yet been established, said another source close to the investigation.

The day after a bus accident on the A7 motorway

These facts occurred the day after a bus accident on the A7 motorway in the same town of Mornas, caused by one of the passengers who “wanted to take the wheel”, added this source.

At this stage of the investigations, it is not possible to formally establish a link between the bus accident, which caused 14 minor injuries according to the firefighters, and the person injured by the gendarmes on Sunday.

The Carpentras public prosecutor’s office has for its part opened three investigations, one concerning the bus accident for involuntary injuries by the driver, another for the violence against the gendarmes and a last for violence by agents of public authority, indicated one of the sources close to the investigation.

The investigations are entrusted to the research brigade of Orange and the research section of Nîmes.
