Tamaulipas.— Strong winds and the fall of hail derived from a waterspout that hit the region this afternoon caused the collapse of poles, trees, cables and advertisements in various parts of Reynosa, Matamoros, Río Bravo and even South Texas.

Although the sky was cloudy from noon, it was not until 5:30 p.m. local time that rain accompanied by wind and the fall of hail spheres that were similar in size to a golf ball were recorded.

Faced with the weather phenomenon, personnel from the Reynosa Civil Protection and Fire Department Coordination deployed an aid operation to the population and drivers, since some roads were blocked by fallen poles and cables.

Likewise, it was reported that in the town of Lucio Blanco, in Matamoros, the hailstorm damaged vehicles and sorghum crops; while in Hidalgo County, Texas, several homes were affected.

So far there has been no report on people injured after the waterspout.
