Mexico City.- In a message on the occasion of New Year’s Eve, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador considered that Mexico will do “very well” in 2023.

“I send you a hug, 2023 will be a good year,” he said.

From the archaeological zone of Palenque, Chiapas, the President said he was optimistic because Mexico, he said, is very strong and will get ahead in the face of adversity.

In a video message uploaded to his social networks, López Obrador once again highlighted the cultural greatness of our country and the honesty of its people.

“Wishing a good year in 2023, wishing personally that we enjoy health and be very happy; and as for the public, tell them that I am optimistic,” he said.

“I want to convey that optimism to all Mexicans. On what do I base my optimism? Fundamentally on this: on what we Mexicans are, on this cultural greatness.”

At the foot of a pyramid dedicated to Pakal, López Obrador affirmed that one of the virtues left by pre-Hispanic cultures, such as the Olmec, is that the people of Mexico are honest.

“The greatest wealth of Mexico today is the honesty of its people. That is why I speak of optimism and I think that we will do very well in 2023.”

True to form, the President made historical references to Mesoamerican cultures and the legacy of Hidalgo, Morelos, Juárez, Madero, Zapata, Villa and Cárdenas.

“All of this is what we Mexicans have received as a legacy, as a legacy, that is why we have come out against any adversity and we will continue to move forward in the face of floods, earthquakes, bad governments, pandemics,” he said.

“Because Mexico is very strong, it is strong because of its cultures, its traditions, its customs, and it is strong because it has a good, honest and hard-working people, so I convey my optimism to you.”
