The vast majority of children do not like to eat vegetables and mothers or guardians have to manage so that the little ones have a healthy diet, since these products are essential for their development and to prevent a series of diseases since they are an inexhaustible source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and micronutrients.

Therefore, it is essential that parents teach their children to consume these foods from an early age. I eat? Nutritionist María Teresa Zumarán, from the Ricardo Palma Clinic, offers some recommendations in this regard:

1. Children learn by imitation, teach by example. Explain to your child the benefits of including vegetables in the daily diet: tell him that they will help prevent cardiovascular and degenerative conditions, cancer, constipation, overweight, high cholesterol, among other ailments.

2. Always have a plate of different colored salads at lunch and dinner. Keep a clear container of washed and cut vegetables in your refrigerator so your child can eat them whenever he likes.

3. Involve your little one in shopping. When you go to the market, start with the vegetable area and together choose the ones you like best. A study carried out by the University of Granada, in Spain, reveals that allowing a child to select the vegetables that he is going to eat increases the consumption of these foods by up to 80%.

4. Have a garden or pots at home where you can grow some vegetables or herbs and then prepare a recipe together. This way they will not only have a good time, they will also see how natural it is to include vegetables in their daily diet. Try to present the dish in a fun way. Get ideas from the internet.

5. Include vegetables for breakfast in the form of pancakes (spinach, carrot, beetroot, etc.), oatmeal (loche squash or grated carrot), scrambled eggs (spinach, tomato, chard, pepper, lettuce, broccoli, among others).

When you teach your child to eat vegetables, you are taking care of his health and helping him to acquire a healthy habit for a lifetime.
