It is undoubtedly the most anticipated science fiction film of 2023. After a first part acclaimed by the spectators, Denis Villeneuve will deliver the sequel to us very soon. Dune. If several clues tell us that this second film will be even better than the first opus, Warner Bros. remained quite discreet.
Good news: a first trailer has just been released. It’s the perfect time to take stock of everything we know about Dune: Part Two.
Dune 2: what scenario?
In the fall of 2019, Denis Villeneuve seems to have everyone in agreement with his adaptation of a cult science fiction novel: Dune, written in 1965 by Frank Herbert. If the success is there, the spectators remained unsatisfied when the lights came back on in the dark rooms. Indeed, the director has chosen to divide the first volume of the saga into two parts. Serious things were just beginning…
Thus, science fiction fans are stamping their feet with impatience at the idea of discovering the second part of Dune starting this fall. After the events of the first film, Paul Atreides intends to take his revenge on those who destroyed his family. Alongside Chami, the hero unites with the Fremen, the rebellious tribe that hides in the arid desert of Arrakis.
While the first part laid the groundwork and, therefore, adopted a fairly slow cruising pace, this next film should offer its share of much more exciting epic adventures. The first trailer for Dune: Part Two promises to send heavy. Without saying too much, this trailer reveals just enough to titillate us. “Long Live the Warriors” can we read… Enough to make the mayonnaise rise!
When is Dune 2 coming out in theaters?
We’ll have to be a little more patient before we find out. Dune: Part Two in dark rooms. After several modifications, the date is finally fixed as of November 1, 2023 in cinemas across France. American spectators will have to wait until November 3.
A 5-star cast for Dune 2
Denis Villeneuve has put the small dishes in the big ones. Of course, Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya are back in this second opus in the respective roles of Paul Atreides and Chami. Even better ? Chami, who only had a few appearances in the first film, should be much more present this time around. We also note the return of Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Dave Bautista.
New characters appear in Dune 2. Florence Pugh (Midsummer) was cast as Princess Irulan while actor Austin Butler (Elvis) is unrecognizable in the skin of Feyd-Rautha. There will even be a French actress, Léa Seydoux should embody Lady Margot. Fans are already excited to see these new faces in the trailer.
For your ears, they should be delighted because it is, once again, Hans Zimmer who will compose the trailer for this film.
Expectations are (very) high for Dune 2?
When it came out, Dune shook Hollywood. It displays the fifth best start of 2021 in France. At the global box office, it spawned 400 million dollars. A nice jackpot! This second opus being eagerly awaited by fans, Warner Bros. should savor yet another success with Dune 2.
We can only hope that this next opus lives up to what this very first trailer suggests. Whether it’s about the plot, the photography or the staging, there’s enough to have butterflies in your stomach. Denis Villeneuve promises us a great show. Surely, the film will offer new previews over the months before its release in dark rooms. Long live!
