What if Robert Downey Jr. returned to the MCU in Captain America 4?

The actor was reportedly spotted on set in Washington in recent days.

It’s a rumor that is likely to make more than one Marvel fan scream: Robert Downey Jr. could reappear in the MCU on the occasion of Captain America: Brave New World.

Absolutely nothing official about it yet, but a article on LinkedIn ensures that the actor was on set in recent days.

Syrian lecturer and writer Nawar Shora says production on the film is happening right now, outside his office in Virginia, around Washington DC. During a brief conversation with a member of the film’s security team, he was told that Robert Downey Jr. was on set the night before:

“They are filming Captain America 4 around the White House and near my office. I was running errands when I noticed all the lights and equipment. I finally asked one of the security guards about it. He was so talkative and nice, he totally gave me a shot (SPOILER) that Robert Downey Jr. was there last night. They drove lots of great cars. We had a great conversation and we had a great time…”

Marvel

Obviously, Tony Stark has been dead for a while in the Marvel Universe, at the end ofAvengers : Endgame. It was in 2019 and since then, Robert Downey Jr. never appeared again in the MCU. His return – if he were to be confirmed – would be a small event, even if it were to be, on arrival, only a simple cameo in a flashback …

Captain America: Brave New Worlddirected by Julius Onah and worn by Anthony Mackie, will be released on July 26, 2024 in cinemas.
