The instant messaging app WhatsApp announced news with which it intends to make your conversations on the platform “more productive and fun”.
The company now allows you to add comments to documents and multimedia files that are forwarded and create one-vote polls. Surveys are one of the elements that were updated in the company’s service Meta.
As reported by the company in a statement sent to iProfessional, in addition to the possibility of generate one-vote pollsin which people can vote only once, a function is enabled to locate surveys within the application.
To locate a survey, WhatsApp arranged a specific filter for this type of content in the search bar from the Chats tab. You will also be able to know the latest results as people vote, because now the platform offers notifications to keep up to date with the progress.
WhatsApp also updated the file sharing, so users can now add a comment before sending a document via chat. You can also include a comment when you forward a photo or video.
“As we continue to innovate the app, today we’re sharing several new features that we’ve added to WhatsApp to make chats a little more productive and fun,” the company said in its statement. These new features were implemented this Thursday and will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming days.

Disable read receipts in WhatsApp
By turning off read receipts, you can have a sense of privacy by reading the message whenever you want, and also prevent others from knowing if you have read it. I followed the steps mentioned below. Remember that by disabling read receipts you will not be able to know when others have read your messages.

- Open WhatsApp on your Android device.
- touch the three vertical points in the top right corner, and from the dropdown menu, choose Settings.
- On the Settings screen, select Account and, on the next screen, choose Privacy.
- Under Privacy, uncheck read receipts.
This setting does not apply to messages you have already received or to the message you’ve already read, but only to the messages you receive after switching to this setting.
Therefore, you should delete the message and continue with the steps below.
- Locate the chat and hold the message to select and tap the trash can icon to delete the message.
- In the Delete this chat? section, select Delete chat. You can check the box Also delete media received in these chats from the device gallery.

- Choose Privacy.
- On the Privacy screen, uncheck the option read receipts.
There are slight differences in deleting WhatsApp messages between iOS and Android.
Messages you’ve already received or read will not be affected by this setting, only the ones you receive after changing it. Therefore, you will need to delete the message. Perform the following steps.
- Locate the chat you want to delete, touch and hold it, and select delete chat.
- Finally, on the bottom sheet, tap Delete Chat to confirm.
