Besides the purely conversational aspect, one of the most popular features of WhatsApp is the sending of images or videos. Anyone who receives a funny image often wants to share it with their friends or family. Except WhatsApp will show a warning in the future before it is sent.

Why WhatsApp will display a warning when sending a photo?

Because for some time WhatsApp users can upload an image with a caption. However, this handy feature also carries the risk of awkward moments, namely when comments or annotations to the image contain personal data.

WhatsApp wants to prevent this with a new warning message : Before uploading an image, the app will remind you that the image and caption are uploaded together. If you don’t want this, WhatsApp says, you can remove the caption before uploading your content. In addition to images, the warning will also display for videos, GIFs and documents.

The new warning message was discovered in WhatsApp Beta (2.23.2.2) for Android smartphones and is currently undergoing internal testing. It will be made available to other beta testers in the coming weeks. It’s unclear when this new feature will officially roll out.

Apart from rolling out this feature, WhatsApp is also going to let you leave incognito group chats. It should also be remembered that the data of nearly 500 million WhatsApp users has just been hacked and resold online for a handful of dollars.
