The works of Chalco-Santa Martha trolleybus continue in the Mexico state and a part of Mexico City, after more than a year of work, there is already an estimated date for it to begin serving users, who will be able to make their transfer in 45 minutes.

With a journey of more than 18.5 kilometersthe new Trolebús line will benefit the inhabitants of four municipalities and two mayors’ offices, which is why people are anxious for the inauguration of the section that will make their trip mostly along the Mexico-Puebla highway.

The new Electric Transport route will be able to transport 120 thousand users in its initial stage and up to 230 thousand in its maximum demand. More than 10 billion pesos by the federal and state government.

The units that will transport users will have a capacity of 142 passengers each, in addition to reducing polluting emissions in the East of the Mexico’s valley.

According to statements by the Governor of the State of Mexico Alfredo del Mazo, the Chalco-Santa Martha trolleybus was expected to begin operations during the month of July. “I hope it will be finished by approximately the month of July and the trucks will be missing to get it running. Anyway, this year it will be ready”, mentioned the EdoMex president during an event in Chalco at the beginning of 2023.

Alfredo del Mazo has also come to detail that the project will reduce the transfer time from an hour and a half or two, to only 45 minutes. Although it will also have an express service that will travel from terminal to terminal in as only 33 minutes.

However, during his presentation at the National Week of the Transforming Industry, Felipe Verdugo Lopezundersecretary of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) explained that the works could end a few months after what was budgeted by the Government of Edomex.

“Here we have 18.5 kilometers, it is also intended to be finished in December of this year and put into operation no later than April of next year,” Verdugo López pointed out about the progress of the project. So it seems that users will have to wait a few months longer than initially budgeted.

Of the 18.5 kilometers it will have, 7.2 will be of elevated viaduct to help improve the mobility of the inhabitants of the benefited entities. The journey will take place through the municipalities of ChalcoValle de Chalco, Ixtapaluca and La Paz, in addition to the Tláhuac and iztapalapa.

The Santa Martha terminal will have an interconnection with the Line A of the Meter from CDMX, Line 2 of the Cablebus and with Line 10 of the Trolleybus, in the circuit raised to the Constitution of 1917. With this, it seeks to offer greater transportation alternatives to people who travel to the capital of the country and back to the Valley of Mexico.
