Whistled by supporters at the Nelson Mandela stadium during the Algeria-Ethiopia match, Rabah Madjer received a great wave of support. During the last match against Mozambique, the fans present at the stadium paid him a vibrant tribute.
Present at the Nelson Mandela stadium during the Algeria-Ethiopia match, Rabah Madjer was shouted down by Algerian fans when he appeared on the stadium’s giant screens. It must be said that this is one of the highlights during the CHAN-2022 which takes place in Algeria.
But the living legend of Algerian football has received unquestionable support. The FAF, the COA, the MJS, international players or former players, to name a few, showed their solidarity with the man who is considered to be among the best Algerian footballers of all time.
Better still, the former FC Porto star was rehabilitated during the match between Algeria and Mozambique. Indeed, the supporters present at the Nelson Mandela stadium raised a nice tifo on which we saw Madjer’s joy when he celebrated a goal scored with FC Porto, while chanting his name for a long time: “Allaho Akbar, Rabah Madjer” .
“I am very touched and honored”
A vibrant tribute that made Rabah Madjer react. The latter, says he is “touched” and “honored”.
“I am very touched and honored by the affection you have shown me and I want to thank you one by one for the magnificent tribute you have paid me”. He wrote on his Instagram account.
And to add: “To the supporters of all the wilayas and abroad. You who have supported me throughout my football career, today it is I who applaud you to show you my gratitude because it is also thanks to you that my career is what it is. I also discovered maybe a little late, this whole universe of social networks and all the messages you sent me that warm my heart. I also discover all the talent of the Algerians through the different pages that I have been able to browse and that makes me proud”.
The Algerian football legend would also like to thank “the Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for your kindness”.
Finally, Madjer concludes that he remains “the number 1 supporter of the greens. I wish them the best for this CHAN Insha’Allah. And see you at the CAN 2025 which I hope will be in Algeria”.
