Referrals for the crime of Marcelo Caceresa 35-year-old young man who was shot dead during the Christmas toast in La Plata, continue to shock the El Retiro neighborhood of La Plata, especially after the arrest of the main suspect and his partner, who had fled to the province of Chaco that same December 25, 2022.

According to what he learned at the time, Cáceres denied him entry and his brother-in-law shot him. Both fled the place and nothing was known until this Friday, when the 42-year-old man and the 32-year-old woman were located and detained in a neighborhood of Resistencia, the capital of Chaco.
As the hours passed, the identity of the detainees became known: the man is Martin Sanchez Aguero and is accused of being the perpetrator of the fatal shot; and the woman is Romina Barrenechesister of the victim and partner of Agüero.
It was the victim’s own mother who told how the crime in Cáceres was: “The sister appeared with her husband and they shot her in the arm and in the belly”said the woman, who the day after the event told the Todo Noticias channel that there was not a good relationship between the brothers.
After the attack, Agüero and Barreneche left the place on a motorbike, presumably to their house, where they made personal effects and fled with a minor who would be their son. Police sources told 0221.com.ar that both fugitives, who had been pointed out by witnesses, traveled that same day to Resistencia with one of their minor children, without hiding their identities. For this reason, from the analysis of the openings of telephone antennas and with the material from the security cameras, it was possible to establish their location until they were arrested this Thursday at noon in the Betina Vázquez neighborhood of the capital of Chaco.
According to this information, the investigation and detention was carried out by the Fourth Resistance Police Station, which had been carrying out intelligence tasks in the area for several days, after receiving information that the wanted were hiding in that neighborhood.

Until now it is known that on Christmas night, Cáceres was with her family when her sister and her partner arrived, with whom she would have had longstanding differences. The attack was sudden, since one of the projectiles hit the abdomen of the victim, who had to be transferred to the Romero hospital in a patrol car, but died shortly after arriving at the care center.
