Tens of thousands of employees have been thanked by Microsoft, Amazon, Meta or even Google and Twitter in recent weeks. But on Wall Street, there is one company that remains confident: Apple. The Cupertino giant has certainly confirmed a certain recruitment freeze, but has not started a mass layoff plan where Alphabet has, for example, chosen to lay off no less than twelve thousand employees. At Amazon, the figure even climbs to more than eighteen thousand!

It was enough for some to try to understand how Apple can survive without following the example of its competitors. For our colleagues from wall street journal, it is in particular on the side of the human resources strategy that we should look. At Tim Cook, the workforce would thus have seen its workforce increase “only” by 20% over the last three years. On the side of Jeff Bezos, the payroll has rather doubled, while the parent company of Facebook has seen its account climb by 94%.

No free food

With this, the wall street journal notes that Apple does not offer meals to employees on its campus, contrary to what Google and Meta (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger) offer. Still, that probably won’t be enough to avoid long-term referrals. Tom Forte, senior analyst for investment bank DA Davidson & Co., believes thata restructuring could well take place shortly. But this should not reach the scale of the redundancy plans of the other GAFAMs.

Moreover, it is good to remember thatApple isn’t even in Glassdoor’s top 100 anymore with regard to well-being at work. This probably coincides with the many departures that the group had to accuse in 2022, causing delays, among other things, on the side of the secret Apple Car project. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.

A clinic in the office, to reduce costs?

Apple still offers other benefits of choice to its employees. Among these, there is a private hospital located within Apple Park, the firm’s iconic headquarters in the heart of Silicon Valley. By going there, employees do not waste time having to travel to another health facility, potentially located much further away or even in another city.

With this, it is rumored that the apple firm is currently seeking to integrate a new type of “designer” into its teams. This would be responsible for designing a program to stay in shape for employees, with advice on preventing illness and promoting a healthier lifestyle. Halfway between sports coach and dietitian, in short.
