Wildfire in NJ burns 600 acres, but does not affect nearby structures

A forest fire broke out in New Jersey Monday morning in Waterford Township, Camden County.

NJ Forest Fire Service reported on social media that the fire has so far consumed 600 acres and only 10% has been controlled.

The fire locates in Wharton State Forest along Jackson Road. This thoroughfare from Atson Road to Tremont Avenue was closed until 11:30 a.m. Monday. There are no surrounding structures that are in danger, much less evictions were generated.

Fire brigades work on a fuel-burning fire strategy before reaching the heart of the flames.
