Upon reaching the “End of Service” (EOS) date, computers running Windows 10 Enterprise and Education version 20H2 will no longer receive quality and security updates, which serve to fix bugs and improve security against recent threats. Microsoft says:

These editions will no longer receive security updates after May 9, 2023. Customers contacting Microsoft support after that date will be directed to either update their device to the latest version of Windows 10 or upgrade to Windows 11 to remain supported.

What is the exact date that the EOS will occur?

On May 10, 2022, several other editions of Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Pro Education and Pro for Workstations) arrived on EOS. Now it will be the turn of Windows 10 Enterprise, Enterprise multi-session, Education and IoT Enterprise, which will arrive on EOS on May 9, 2023.

What is recommended to do?

If you have a computer running Windows 10 Enterprise or Education version 20H2, Microsoft recommends updating your operating system to version 22H2, also known as the “Windows 10 2022 Update”. According to the operating system developer, installing the latest version of Windows 10 will be quick as “this feature update will be installed as a monthly update”.
