Microsoft is testing a new way to preview photos through File Explorer. This one benefits from a better readability, in order to browse more efficiently the different images of the user.

File Explorer in Windows 11 is getting a facelift soon. Indeed, this one, which sometimes opens on its own, will soon receive its biggest update since Windows 8. Some users may today have access to version 23435 of Windows 11. This offers, among other things, a new “Gallery” area much more pleasant to use than the previous onewhich has remained unchanged for years.

This view thus displays the same content as the one already offered by the Photos application. This feature comes to recover the images in several folders. It is therefore possible to select the sources, in order to display only the desired images. This new view in the file explorer facilitates the consultation of these files, in particular when the user wishes to quickly share images.

Windows 11: the new gallery is already the victim of a bug

However, this new feature is not not yet available to the general public. This version also brings the file explorer based on WinUI 3, and changes some icons. Another notable addition, privacy control presence detection on compatible devices is now possible.

Indeed, some laptops today are equipped with presence sensors that can be used by some applications. In other words, Windows 11 can detect the presence of the user in front of his computer, and react accordingly. With this update, it is now possible to choose which apps can access these sensors using the Settings option.

This new version also corrects some problems with Windows Update. Speech recognition support has also been improved. A bug coming from explorer.exe impacted the reliability of the taskbar. This has been fixed by Microsoft. Neverthelessthe new gallery is already having some problems. Indeed, opening it sometimes requires a double click.
