Bundle packages with Mac software are often only of limited appeal for developers: They may give them a lot of new customers at once because they can get numerous apps for little money, but afterwards it often gets expensive in terms of support – and whether the new users sticking with it and buying updates later is also unclear.

With the project Artisanal Software Festival (“Festival of handicraft software”), also known under the names SummerFest and WinterFest, a group of independent developers has been trying to go a different way for several years now: They are working together, but instead of one Package price, there are simply discounts per application. Currently running the campaign for winter 2022/2023.

This time there are a total of 20 products at the WinterFest. The names are prominent. For example, you get the traditional editor BBEdit for less money (here, however, only 20 percent less instead of 25 percent as with all other products), there is the Devonthink database, the creative writing suite Scrivener, the quotation manager Bookends or the search tool Houdah Spot. With Hyperplan you can plan excellently and with Trickster you can create a faster connection to your own files.

Also included are 30 percent discounts on books in the renowned Take Control series, which cover numerous software and hardware topics related to Apple products. Redeeming the deals is always the same: you click on the respective page and then enter the code “Winterfest2022” to use the deal. “No ridiculous packages, no silly gimmicks. Great software, great support, great (but sustainable) prices,” write the project makers. The website does not state how long the winter festival will continue – if you are interested in one of the products, you should get hold of it as soon as possible. The next discount campaign should start again in the summer.
