The trident of Florida is 'on fire': Messi, Josef and Taylor scored to give Inter Miami the pass to the semifinals of the Leagues Cup

With only one Mexican team still in contention, the night of This Friday the semifinals of the Leagues Cup were defineda tournament in which teams from Major League Soccer (MLS) and Liga MX play.

The Rayados de Monterrey continue in the fight after winning the pass over LAFC with a closed 3-2 that was achieved thanks to a comeback from the Aztec team, since in the first half LAFC won 2-0.

Thanks to a penalty taken by Sergio Canales, an own goal by Sergi Palencia and the sentence by Rogelio Funes Mori at minute 88, the Monterrey team made it past the quarterfinals and is the only Mexican that is still alive in a tournament completely dominated by MLS teams.

On the other hand, Querétaro, the other remaining representative of the Liga MX in the Leagues Cup, fell 2-1 against the Philadelphia Union

For its part, Inter Miami led by Argentine Lionel Messi and company sealed the pass to the semifinals after beating Charlotte FC 4-0. The Argentine star has already scored eight goals in the tournament and has scored in all the matches he has played since he made his debut.

Finally, Nashville SC had no mercy on Minnesota United and beat them superbly 5-0 to qualify for the semifinals.

It is necessary to remember that the first, second and third places in the 2023 Leagues Cup advance directly to the next edition of the Concacaf Champions Cupformerly known as the Champions League.

The semifinals of the Leagues Cup 2023 will be played next Tuesday, August 15 as follows:

  • Philadelphia Union vs. Inter Miami. Subaru Park, Pennsylvania. 7:30 p.m. ET
  • Nashville SC vs. Monterey. GEODIS Park, Tennessee. 9:30 p.m. ET
