The long weekend will begin, according to the experts of the National Meteorological Service (SMN) with an ideal day, but what lies ahead is far from it and is that a strong storm of wind and rain is expected for the next few days, first; and a marked drop in temperatures, afterwards.
According to expert forecasts, the first of the three rest days will be uneventful, with sunshine and a pleasant temperature between 18 and 27°C. It will be an almost spring day to enjoy the city before two days in which the weather will turn 180°.
Argentine meteorologists foresee, along these lines, an unstable Sunday with terrible weather conditions.
In the SMN they anticipate a true storm of wind and rain that will hit the entire region already late in the morning: specialists forecast heavy rain and storms, accompanied by intense winds rotating from north to south and blowing at speeds between 13 and 41 km/h throughout the day, with violent gusts of up to 78 km/h.
The weather conditions during the second day of the long weekend keep the local authorities on alert and that is why the Municipality met the Municipal Emergency Operating Committee (COEM) last Thursday to establish a series of necessary works to guarantee that the city is prepared for inclement weather.
The meeting was headed by the local government secretary and head of the committee, Marcelo Leguizamon; the Secretary of Health, Enrique Rifourcat; the Undersecretary of Risk Management, Martina Garcia; the director of municipal Hydrometeorology, Mauricio Saldivar; and authorities of the different communal areas. “On Sunday we will have the passage of a cold front with a marked rotation of winds to the south and a subsequent drop in temperatures. This situation increases the risk of storms, which may be accompanied by gusts and occasional hail.”advanced Saldívar from the data collected by the local authorities.
Within this framework, a diagnosis of the situation was carried out and the control and prevention strategies that will be carried out in the neighborhoods of La Plata were planned in view of the expected climatic conditions.
All in all, the terrible weather conditions on Sunday will not extend into the beginning of next week, but will bring a sharp drop in temperature. According to Argentine experts, the last day of the long weekend will open with a minimum temperature of 8°C and it will be sunny, but with a maximum of just 18°C.
In this way, although with good weather and plenty of sun, the first days of next week will be cool and with lows of 6°C on Tuesday and Wednesday and slightly higher on Thursday and Friday, when floors of 8 are expected. and 11°C, respectively.
