Starting from the new year, Immuni, the app intended to manage the Covid alert and notify citizens of any contacts with those who had contracted the virus, will be set aside.
The communication arrives directly from the Ministry of Health: starting from 31 December, both the app and the national platform dedicated to managing the Covid alert system will be discontinued. The Ministry also notified that, from the same date, “vAny processing of personal data carried out pursuant to article 6 of the decree law of 30 April 2020, n. 28, converted with amendments by law 25 June 2020, n. 70“.
Immune it had been introduced in June 2020 with the aim of monitoring any contacts with people affected by the infection and notifying users so that the necessary procedures can be started. With the Ministry’s new decision, the app will disappear from the various application stores (Apple, Google, Huawei); if you have already installed it, theapp will simply stop working: You will then no longer be sent or received notifications of any kind.
The disappearance of the single national platform Further will bring with it a further effect: L’impossibility to download the new Covid-19 green certifications from the app (the so-called green pass). From the date of decommissioning of the system, Immuni it will just keep the certificates that are already there. Any new certifications can only be obtained using other digital tools made available: the IO app, the personal health file or directly from the website www.dgc.gov.it
The decision of the Ministry of Health falls, in general, in the different management of the Covid emergency announced, a few months ago, by the new Meloni government: previously we had seen the frequency of the health bulletin change (first daily and now weekly), the obligation to use the mask in the workplace (even in health facilities, where the obligation still remains to present the green certification to access ).
On 31 December, barring last-minute changes, the vaccination obligation for healthcare workers and employees will also expire.
