Whereas Elden Ring will soon celebrate its year of existence, a mod transforms the way equipment works. Perfect for reviving the adventure.

The first anniversary ofElden Ring approach. And, in one year, many of us have dedicated dozens of hours to this grandiose adventure, acclaimed and applauded as it should be. Do you think you have covered the subject? This mod, spotted by PCGamesN on January 8, might catch your eye. Its goal is simple: to rethink the way equipment is managed to bring the experience closer to a Diablo.

The mod, created by CornflakeRush transforms Elden Ring in a race for loot. Concretely, enemies are more likely to drop weapons and armor to improve the effectiveness of his character. It’s a total paradigm shift: in the classic game, it is rather recommended to find a weapon and never leave it again. The CornflakeRush project, available at the Nexus Mods Portal (PC version only), is currently in beta and needs maximum feedback to improve.

When Elden Ring becomes Diablo

Consider Elden Ring like a Diablo is a real game-changer in approach. Blizzard Entertainment’s philosophy of action RPGs is to encourage experimentation, with a real escalation in gear progression. In Elden Ringonce you have found your best build, we stick to it and we go in search of resources to improve it. In the same way, in Elden Ring, dealing with basic enemies ends up being useless. With this mod, the lure of loot makes you want to fight, even against monsters that bring in little experience points.

CornflakeRush seems to have done it right, such as adding a rarity element to weapons (like in Diablo). There are eight different levels (from ‘Common’ to ‘Godslayer’): the rarer the piece in the arsenal, the more damage it does and will have powerful effects. There are vampiric weapons, which restore some health when you hit – the kind of power we love, as it can really make life easier, especially in a game where the difficulty is high.

The different weapons also have a random Ash of War, a special ability that can be particularly powerful. Here again, the idea behind this mod is to encourage players to multiply the confrontations to increase their chances of being well equipped. It’s a great excuse to raise Elden Ring and play it differently, especially to wait until the release of Diablo IV (scheduled for June 6, 2023).
