Dornbirn’s traditional club invited to the big review of the year.

Dornbirn. Last Saturday, the 136th Annual General Meeting of the Dornbirn Cyclists’ Association 1886 – RV Dornbirn for short – for the year 2022 took place in the “Bunker” cycle ball hall in the Dornbirn-Haselstauden middle school. In addition to the election of the board, an interesting review of the cycling, mountain biking and fit & fun sectors as well as the topic of volunteering was presented.

More than 100 club members accepted the invitation and came to an exclusive meet & greet with Vorarlberg’s influencer, downhill star and world record holder Elias Schwärzler before the start of the session. He gave an exciting lecture on social media and sponsoring for the Vorarlberg state squad.

The active board was re-elected again and chairman Alexander Bösch led through the evening. In addition to the formal parts of the program, the rest of the evening was “world champion” in the truest sense of the word – above all, the cycling world champions Patrick Schnetzer and Stefan Feurstein were proudly honored together with cycling and mountain bike athletes.

The former, longstanding chairman Harald Ilg was also elected to the position of honorary chairman. Guest speaker Jürgen Albrich, head of the sports department of the city of Dornbirn, Lisa Laninschegg, vice president of the Sportunion Vorarlberg and Herby Tessadri, president of the Vorarlberg cycling association, were impressed by the active, voluntary club life of the RV Dornbirn and each expressed their congratulations. Current topics such as cycling without age, aha-Plus, the “Children Healthy Movement” project and the ambitious RVD media team were also presented on this evening.

Looking forward to the new season

The outlook for 2023 was also exciting: On June 24th and 25th, the RV Dornbirn will hold a cycling world cup and youth tournament in the exhibition hall and from July 7th to 9th it will be time to “put on the pedals” with the big mountain bike races on the Zanzenberg. (cth)
