Mexico City- Minister Yasmín Esquivel, who has voted in favor of the 4T laws, failed to get the presidency of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Accused of plagiarizing her degree thesis, Minister Esquivel spoke before the vote to elect president of the Highest Court.
The judge defended the actions of the CDMX Prosecutor’s Office, which determined that he did not plagiarize and said that he trusts UNAM, which still has a pending verdict.
“In my case, I appeared before the competent authorities through institutional channels, the university, my alma mater, in which I trust, I will always trust, before the Prosecutor’s Office, to which I provide forceful elements that society and the media requested. “, he indicated.
“Today with complete peace of mind and not only with statements, but based on the resolution of an authority, it is confirmed that the professional thesis that I presented to obtain my bachelor’s degree is my authorship and that I obtained it while I was studying.”
He affirmed that he contained attacks against himself and the Judiciary.
“Act quickly in order to contain the attacks that could be given to me or to the Federal Judiciary,” he added.
“In the defense for the autonomy of the Judiciary and in the protection of judges, there should be no hesitation or concessions, but that defense begins with our correct daily actions.”
He accused, as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had already done, that there were attacks against him.
“That no person or judge in this country allows himself to be intimidated by external forces, such as the media, political, economic or social forces. I condemn any attack on the independence of the members of the Federal Judiciary,” he stated.
“A judge or judge should not be intimidated no matter how strong the attack or aggression is, we want judging, clean, transparent people where we do not give room to corruption or the complicity of any member of this power in which society has trusted”.
“Ladies ministers and ministers, I will continue my fight,” he said.
