After an illegal vaccination campaign for hotel employees from Italy at Munich Airport, the Munich District Court issued four penal orders of between 25,000 and 60,000 euros against the two doctors involved, a pharmacist and the employee of an Italian hotel.

In times of a shortage of vaccines in May 2021, they are said to have vaccinated more than 100 Italian hotel employees who had been flown to Munich specifically for this purpose, the Bavarian central office for combating fraud and corruption in the healthcare system announced on Tuesday in Nuremberg. According to the information provided, all four of the accused have lodged an objection to the penal orders, which is why they are not yet final.

According to the investigation, the hotel employee is said to have organized three vaccination campaigns for her colleagues, two of which took place in a hotel at Munich Airport. The third vaccination campaign was planned directly in Italy, but the authorities were able to strike before the German vaccines were exported.

The accused pharmacist is said to have provided the vaccine for two of the three vaccination campaigns. One of the doctors is said to have been involved in both vaccination campaigns, the second in one. One of the doctors is also said to have planned the action in Italy.

A total of 228 vaccine doses of the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine are said to have been misappropriated as a result of the campaign. According to the investigators, the hotel employees in Germany were not entitled to be vaccinated. The accused are said to have made themselves punishable for embezzlement, sometimes in several cases. (AFP, epd)
