This Wednesday, May 17, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador insisted on carrying out a popular consultation to determine if the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation are elected through popular vote because “the people rule.”
In the space of the morning conference, the politician from Tabasco launched himself again against the Judiciary and affirmed that it is rotten, since it only serves “potentates and criminals”, for which it is necessary to renew it.
For the head of the Executive it is good to ask people about magistrates and ministers to determine if they should be elected by popular vote.
However, he recognized that the legal framework should be analyzed and whether there is time for this consultation, since the Constitution prohibits carrying out this consultation exercise during electoral periods.
“Consultations cannot be carried out when the electoral processes begin. If there is time and it is allowed by law, it would be good because people have to be informed and we all have to participate in cleaning, moralizing, purifying public life”.
