For many, many years, you’ve been able to share screenshots taken with your Xbox directly to Twitter. As of late yesterday, this is no longer an option. The reason this was removed is because Twitter, led by Elon Musk, decided to charge a $42,000 “start-up fee” to companies to access its API functions.

Unfortunately, this also affects the Xbox Game Bar for Windows 10 and 11, but not the Xbox app for smartphones. More third-party apps are also reported to be doing the same thing (that is, removing support for sharing), but we haven’t heard from Nintendo or Sony yet.

We understand that Twitter needs to make money, but essentially charging people to share things on social media is a counterproductive way to do it, don’t you think?
