Microsoft’s Game Pass now includes an impressive number of different games, from big blockbusters to smaller indie titles. Many players have already subscribed due to the huge catalogue, but if you’re not convinced by Game Pass, you might be able to try it completely free right now. All you need is a friend who already has a subscription.
Free trial membership to PC Game Pass
With the “Xbox Game Pass Friend Referral Program” members can gift a 14-day trial membership to up to five of their online friends. All you have to do is log into your own account and click on the dedicated button. There you copy the given code and send it to the desired person. They then have 30 days to redeem the code. If this does not happen for any reason, the code will be available again after another 30 days.
The offer only works for the PC version of Game Pass. The page Engadget speculates that Microsoft simply believes that they have already picked up all gamers who are considering a subscription in the console market. In October 2022, Xbox Boss Phil Spencer explained that the Game Pass on the PC is still growing strongly, but growth on the console has now slowed down.
Of course, there are also a few requirements in order to take advantage of the offer. On the one hand, only new customers may benefit from it. Players who are currently or have previously subscribed to Game Pass are excluded. Also, only active customers can send these codes. However, the five codes to be sent are reset on January 1st of each year. So if you make five new friends during this period, you can always send new trial memberships.
