Is there a new love story coming up?

You, Love, Victor and The White Lotus star Lukas Gage, 27, is said to be dating openly gay hairstylist Chris Appleton, 39. This is reported by several US media – including a filter bubble on the internet.

Gage sparked the relationship rumors with Appleton himself when he shared several photos to his Instagram account from their vacation together in Punta de Mita, Mexico.

In the photos, also shared by Appleton, the two can be seen on a quad bike, driving around or posing in the sea as seen above.

Appleton simply captioned his photo with the English word for “joy ride”, while Gage captioned it “la mejor”, which means “the best”. Further evidence of the alleged flirt: The two commented on each other’s posts.

Appleton’s colleague Mary Phillips seems to be corroborating the romance rumours, as she captioned his post: ‘IG official’. According to sources at US gossip site Just Jared, the two have actually been a couple for some time.

Queer roles in two hit series

Earlier this month, actor Lukas Gage, who made his season four debut as Adam Pratt – a wealthy brat and son of a wealthy East Coast family – in the fourth season of the Netflix psychological thriller series You, surprised us with a sick sex scene.

Then: In the second episode, lead actor Penn Badgley (playing Joe) discovers his secret fetish and witnesses the overbearing American expatriate playing “Golden Shower” games with an unknown waiter.

For Gage, it’s already the second explicitly queer sex scene in recent years. Previously, his character had sex with hotel manager Armond on the first season of HBO’s The White Lotus.

Don’t be afraid of sex scenes

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed of the on-screen sex, “In that scene and in The White Lotus, I didn’t do it to be sexy, I did it to bring some humor into it. I didn’t think it would be that hot for people. But I also wanted to go as far as possible.”

Fee: “That’s why it couldn’t be half a rimming scene or only half a pee scene,” says the 27-year-old. And added: “By the way, we used a water machine with yellow food coloring for the pee scene.”

He’s also not shy about engaging in cross-border sex scenes, explaining that he’s “a little more European in my thoughts about nudity now.”

“I’m not begging to take my clothes off – and I’m comfortable with it. I also want to maintain a sense of truth: if there’s a scene where I’m having sex with my boss, it would be pretty damn weird if I was wearing clothes,” Gage said.

These scenes are shot so mechanically anyway. It’s not sexy when a director tells you that you’re doing weird. Lukas Gage on his gay sex scene in The White Lotus

“I’m ready”

In an interview with People, the actor celebrated the new era of sex-positivity in the media, saying it would be “a disservice not to see explicit love scenes on screen.” Queer fans also recently saw Gage as a guest actor in the American reboot of the LGBT series “Queer as Folk”.

Gage finds anyway, “really good writing and fully developed characters [bedeuten]that their sexuality and sex life is a part of it,” adding, “I think we’re entering an era of truthful storytelling and authenticity… so I’m ok with that.” I’m ready!”

Truthfully? Authenticity? Is this what a coming out looks like today? We don’t know either.

Also, in developing his character with the creators and producers of You, it was “really important for us never to have shame and be positive about sex. We never make fun of anyone’s preferences. They’re part of the person. I think there are reasons for everyone’s interests,” Gage said.
