Young man accused of fleeing from authorities in Katy arrested

HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that a 20-year-old who ran away from a Katy police station has been recaptured.

According to the HCSO, Braden Findley is in the custody of authorities after he escaped Monday afternoon and fled into a wooded area in western Harris County.

Findley had been arrested that day on charges of violating a restraining order against him, following his indictment in May for assault on a woman and threats of retaliation.

Although Findley was not considered by the authorities as a public threat, an extensive operation was carried out for his recapture, which was completed this Wednesday before noon.

According to authorities, Findley had been arrested shortly before 3 pm Monday on charges of violating a restraining order and retaliating against his girlfriend.

A couple of hours later, he seized the opportunity and absconded from the Harris County police substation in Katy to sneak into a wooded area near Bear Creek Park.

Findley apparently managed to tamper with the handcuffs he was wearing without the officer in charge noticing.

The incident occurred near the intersection of TC Jester and Beltway 8.
