Alejandro Herrera, 17, was arrested after allegedly beating his girlfriend and locking her in a closet.

The incident occurred on August 7 in the Cameron Park area of ​​Brownsville, Cameron County Sheriff Eric Garza said in a statement.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police contacted the victim, who stated that her boyfriend, Alejandro, had slapped her across the face, hit her on the head with a phone, kicked her in the stomach, and tried to suffocate her with a bracelet.

In addition, the young woman explained that Herrera pushed her into a closet, blocked the doors with furniture, and told her that she was not leaving.

During the police investigation, officers discovered that Herrera had pushed the victim in and out of the closet for approximately an hour. Due to the injuries, officers were able to confirm the victim’s statement.

The victim was eventually allowed to leave the residence and call 911 for help.

After further investigation, officers contacted Herrera, who confirmed that he had been in an altercation with the victim.

Herrera was placed under arrest and charged with assault with violence/restraint and unlawful restraint.
The young man was transferred and admitted to the Carrizalez Rucker Detention Center.
