The National Guard is accused, once again, of an extrajudicial execution in Nuevo LaredoTamaulipas, where a pregnant teenager and a man died, while 3 other people were injured, including another minor.
He Human Rights Committee of Nuevo Laredo has been in charge of denouncing and disseminating this caseof which 86 shots were recorded, presumably from the gunner of a National Guard unit.
Yes, 86 shots, according to the casings that have been found in the area of the attack, in the Mex II bypass, which connects Nuevo Laredo with Piedras Negras, Coahuila.
National Guard accused of attack in Nuevo Laredo
Again: What we know about this case has been via the Human Rights Committee of Nuevo Laredo.
In fact, Raymundo Ramos Vázquez, president of this committee, explained to the media —in front of the facilities of the Tamaulipas Prosecutor’s Office— that it is an extrajudicial execution.
How did this attack in Nuevo Laredo happen? According to the complaint, on the morning of Sunday, April 16, two families who were aboard a van with Texas license plates, in the Mex II bypass, were attacked by a National Guard patrol.
It is assumed that to be safe, the driver went in the opposite direction, but due to the injuries caused by the shots, he ended up crashing the truck against a wall.
The direct attack and shooting continued until the guards realized that the 2 families did not carry weapons or drugs. Only at that moment did they stop and abandon these 5 people in the area.
The balance of the attack in Nuevo Laredo
Miriam Mariana Flores, a pregnant 15-year-old girland Felipe Jesús García died after the attack.
In the case of the pregnant teenager, she was taken to the hospital where an emergency C-section was performed to save her 8-month-old baby, but it was not possible.
The injured are another minor, a 24-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man.
In this case, the Human Rights Committee demands that the government investigate the National Guard in Nuevo Laredo and that there be justice.
And so far, the National Guard has not published a pronouncement or explanation on this case.
Although the Municipal President of Nuevo Laredo Carmen Lila Canturosas posted a message regretting the attack:
“My deep condolences and solidarity to the families of the people who died in the unfortunate event recorded this Sunday, April 16 here in Nuevo Laredo.
I raise a prayer for his eternal rest and we will be aware of the investigations carried out by the corresponding authorities so that the facts are clarified.
In just over a month, this is the second case in which the National Guard is accused of an extrajudicial execution in the Nuevo Laredo municipality, Tamaulipas.
