Unless you’re using a blocker like AdBlock or uBlock Origin, YouTube is increasingly overrun with ads at the beginning, middle, and end of a video. The purpose of the maneuver? You push to subscribe to YouTube Premium to remove them. Of course, arguments are needed. more convincing and Google thinks it has found its Holy Grail. Internet users have noticed that with YouTube Premium, subscribers are entitled to 1080p videos without compression.

When you watch the trailer of a blockbuster or the gameplay of an AAA, the compression is often very strong and somewhat spoils the real rendering. This 1080p YouTube Premium version allows a bit rate upper for better quality, the difference is clearly felt! In return, this option requires a good connection.

If neophytes will not necessarily pay attention to the difference, the most tech-savvy and other gamers may be convinced by this 1080p option of YouTube Premium.

As a reminder, the subscription begins at 11.99 euros / month, a fairly steep price to access this option.

Paid subscription, the new eldorado of platforms?

Twitter charges for certification via Twitter Blue even if the sauce does not take, Meta has launched a similar program for Facebook and Instagram… It seems that the economic model paid subscription begins to spread on the platforms. Charging for higher quality 1080p videos is questionable and feels like a first step towards more aggressive options. Internet users may fear that they will only access restricted content in the future unless they checkout.

For the moment, nothing has been communicated about this by Google but one thing is certain, popular platforms are taking a new direction after years of being free financed by advertisements (and the sale of personal data).
