Attack in Texas, man rams truck into security office, several injured

HOUSTON — A man intentionally rammed a stolen tractor-trailer into a office of security public of Texas in a rural town west of Houston on Friday, injuring several people, a state lawmaker said.

The incident occurred in Brenham, Texas, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) west of Houston, authorities said.

Three people were airlifted with serious injuries and three others were taken to hospitals in serious condition after the vehicle, which had been stolen, rammed the building, according to a statement from state Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, who represents the area. She added that no Department of Public Safety employees suffered serious injuries and that one employee was trapped “for a period of time” in the building.

“This vile and deliberate act is a reminder of the dangerous work our law enforcement agencies do to provide public services and safety,” Kolkhorst said in a statement.

Suspect arrested

In a post on X, the Texas Department of Public Safety asked the community to stay away from the area to allow medical personnel to move freely.

A suspect is detained. The Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident and there is no further danger to the community, security officials said.

Multiple news outlets showed a huge red truck with cargo material in the back, in the building’s parking lot. The front of the 18-wheeler was damaged and covered in debris from the building’s entrance gate. There was also debris near a huge hole at the entrance to the property.

The Texas Department of Public Safety did not immediately respond to a request for more information.

Brenham city officials have also not responded to a similar request.
