Archaeologists from the Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences recently came across the remains of a giant panda in the mausoleum of Emperor Wennear Xian, according to the specialized site IFL Science.
Located in the historically rich city of Xi’an, this cemetery has immense historical importanceparticularly as the starting point of the Silk Road and the capital of the Western Han Dynasty.
Emperor Wen’s Legacy
Emperor Wen, also known as Wen-di, ruled the Western Han dynasty from 180 BC. C. until 157 a. C.. His reign was characterized by a period of prosperity and harmony. The long-held belief that Emperor Wen was buried in the mountains near Xi’an was discredited in 2021 when archaeologists identified the actual burial site in Xi’an’s Baqiao district.
The excavation site has revealed a large number of artifacts associated with Emperor Wen’s time, shedding light on the culture and customs of the time.
Between the excavations, according to reports, They discovered a tomb surrounded by 110 pits where more than 1,500 archaeological artifacts were buried, including ceramic figurines, bronze seals, iron items, bronze chariots, and horses.
