BOULDER, Colorado – The Boulder Police Department (BPD) is currently investigating the death of a two-month-old infant and the mother is in custody as the primary suspect in the case.

On Saturday, June 10, at 4:30 p.m., police responded to a residence in north Boulder in response to a potential mental health crisis. According to witnesses, Anna Louise Englund, 29, had taken her two-month-old baby from her home and driven away in her car.

In light of this alarming situation, the BPD issued a statewide “try to locate” bulletin, sharing it with other law enforcement jurisdictions. At around 10:20 p.m., Englund’s car was located heading towards Boulder Community Hospital. Officers accosted her in the parking lot and rushed the baby to the emergency department.

Unfortunately, at 10:48 pm, the death of the baby was pronounced, which has plunged the family and the community in general into grief.

Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold expressed her sympathy and sympathy at this terrible and difficult time. “This is a tragic situation and our thoughts are with the child’s loved ones as they navigate this painful event,” she said.

Boulder Police are currently actively working on the investigation to reconstruct the sequence of events and obtain more details about this tragic case. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information is expected to be released at this time. It will be the coroner’s office that determines the cause and manner of death of the minor.

Based on the information and evidence collected, the baby’s mother is in custody and faces serious charges:

  • First degree murder: two counts.
  • Allegation of child abuse resulting in death: One count.
