Cristina Garmendiawho was minister of Science and Innovation in the government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapaterois the new president of Mediaset Spain. This was decided at the chain’s Board of Directors held this Tuesday, and was announced today. Garmendia, president of the COTEC Foundation, succeeds Borja Prado.
The former minister, as the company has recalled, was independent director of the group since December 2017. He was also a member of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee of the company.
Mediaset has highlighted the career of the former minister, a doctor in Biological Sciences in the specialty of Genetics. Cristina Garmendia Mendizabal was born in San Sebastin (1962), she studied a doctorate in Molecular Biology at the Severo Ochoa National Center for Molecular Biology. To complete her training, she made a MBA from the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra.
Professional life
She is currently the president of the non-profit foundation COTEC, whose mission is to promote innovation as an engine of economic and social development. At the same time, he is part of advisory boards such as those of Unicef and the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC)in addition to being present on the boards of several Spanish universities.
As an independent director, she is also part of the boards of directors of Caixabank and Grupo Logistais a proprietary director at Capital Partners and a member of the European Commission Space Advisory Council.
