Two police officers face sexual assault charges

Two police officers face several charges, including sexual abuse, for an assault committed last summer in a Bronx apartment.

The criminal complaint filed by the county prosecutor’s office indicates that the incident took place in July 2023.

This began when officers Julio Alcantara-Santiago and Christian García left a bar on Grand Concourse Avenue with a female companion who showed signs of alcohol intoxication and could not stand on her own.

The officers took the woman in a vehicle to a building a few blocks from the bar, where they allegedly committed the sexual abuse.

The victim says she woke up in an unknown location, did not consent to the sexual act, and had a rape kit performed at a local hospital.

The results of the DNA test match those of the accused police officers.

We spoke to area residents and these were their reactions to the event.

Alcantara-Santiago and García remain in police custody.
