Iran sanctions US and UK individuals and companies for their support of Israel
The Government of Iran imposed sanctions this Thursday on individuals, institutions and companies from the United States and the United Kingdom for “support Israel’s terrorist acts” and the violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced sanctions against the United States for “support and financing of Israel’s terrorist acts, glorification and support of terrorism and violations of the human rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.” .
Among those sanctioned are the companies Lockheed Martin, Chevron y General Dynamicsamong others, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
In addition, the Policy Director of the United Against a Nuclear Iran organization, Jason Brodsky, have been sanctioned; Michael Rubin, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, head of the Navy’s Fifth Fleet, among others. For their part, British individuals, institutions and companies were sanctioned for “supporting the acts of the Zionist regime, including acts of terrorism against regional and international peace,” “the systematic violation of human rights” or the “displacement of the Palestinian people.”
The British Air Force in Cyprus, as well as the British Navy destroyer HMS Diamond deployed in the Red Sea are among those sanctioned, in addition to the British Secretary of Defense, Grant Shapps, or the director of Defense Intelligence of the British Army, Adrian Bird, among others. The sanctions prohibit the affected individuals from entering Iran, order the confiscation of their property and assets on Iranian soil, and the blocking of their bank accounts in the country.
The announcement of the sanctions comes shortly after the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada imposed new restrictive measures against Iran’s drone industry, a country that They are accused of supplying this weapons to Russia for use in the Ukrainian war. The Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel are bitter enemies, posing a mutual existential threat and competing for regional hegemony.
