What are skirting boards for?
Skirting boards have multiple functions:
- Functional and aesthetic: Among their uses, skirting boards are good for hiding construction errors. For example, walls that are not straight, poorly constructed corners or uneven floors. They can also help cover cables and installations that go at ground level. Therefore, a skirting board is that element that covers up a poor finish and also allows you to improve the aesthetics of a home.
- Protection and cleaning: in addition to the aesthetic function, they protect the walls from the continuous blows that we usually give. For example, when we clean the house or move furniture. Precisely for this reason there are usually no skirting boards in bathrooms and kitchens, since they are tiled and do not deteriorate so easily over time. Even so, most kitchen furniture has baseboards. It is also a good protective barrier for dirt to accumulate, although there is the danger of being home to the different insects that can inhabit a house.
