In this sense, Reyes argued that, Only in the first 15 days of the year have they managed to place 12,856 fines that have been imposed on collective transportation, cargo, and private vehicles. Of these, more than 4,000 are minor offenses, 2,397 serious offenses, and 5,899 have been very serious offenses.

Likewise, he highlighted that 11% of the obituaries imposed have been for the collective transport of passengers. The main causes of fines have been not carrying a license, not having a fire extinguisher, exceeding speed limits, and driving while intoxicated.

According to the official, road safety measures have resulted in a reduction in accidents when compared to data from 2022. There is a 4.2% decrease in traffic accidents, 2.4% in injuries, and 13% in deaths.

“So far this year, we have recorded 29 fewer road accidents and 9 fewer deaths from this cause than last year”Reyes said.
