After a two-year Corona break, a mega event is coming back: Scheiding in Dortmund is selling fireworks again – from midnight for 24 hours.
That hasn’t happened since 2019! Scheiding thing in Dortmund-Oestrich sells again Fireworks – for 24 hours. It starts at midnight on Wednesday night through Thursday night. Scheiding expected (like every year before Corona) long lines of fireworks fans and a lavish sales party including catering.
Also Friday and New Year’s Eve the factory outlet is open. Next to rockets and fireworks batteries (no firecrackers!) Scheiding also sells youth fireworks and table fireworks, as well as party snacks and drinks at dumping prices.
Scheiding has been running the 24-hour warehouse sale at Kammerstück 35 in the industrial park on the border to Castrop-Rauxel for ten years. In 2020 and 2021 he was canceled due to Corona. Owner Christoph Scheiding: “We are more expensive than the discounter, but we also have premium items.” For example, you can light a combination, i.e. a battery, once and enjoy it for five to six minutes. Among other things, they offer batteries with a precisely coordinated choreography in terms of lighting effects.
Rockets and batteries instead of firecrackers

New Year’s fireworks are on annoying topic for pet owners. “We don’t sell any (loud) firecrackers,” says Christoph Scheiding, “batteries are already loud enough.” But there are now manufacturers who offer quieter products. They are also on offer. In addition, certain types of noise are particularly stressful for animals: Howling and the so-called crackling (rustling) effects, for example. That’s why Scheiding also sells fireworks that don’t produce this kind of noise.
The owner sees a trend towards sustainability – including in packaging. Instead of plastic caps on rockets, there are already cardboard caps. Likewise, manufacturers replaced the plastic of a fuse case with cardboard.
Prices don’t go up

You can get crackers for 99 cents as well as special premium batteries for 300 euros. “If we were to offer goods newly purchased from China, we would certainly have had a price increase of 30 to 40 percent,” estimates Christoph Scheiding.

His tip: Get in line as early as 6/7 p.m. on Wednesday – especially if you want to buy very special fireworks. Being quick pays off. Or four o’clock in the morning. Experience has shown that it is quieter there. But you can also come on Thursday during the day. Or after the campaign on Friday during normal business hours between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and on New Year’s Eve until 2 p.m.
