This year, too, the Ministry of Social Affairs is once again paying holiday allowances to families with low incomes. The amount of the subsidy is 10 euros per night for each accompanying family member and can be applied for at least two and a maximum of 13 nights, the ministry announced on Wednesday. “An intensive time together with parents or grandparents is extremely important, especially for children.”

According to the ministry, 1,163 applications from families were approved last year. This year, 370,000 euros are available for grants. However, applications should be submitted at least six weeks before the start of the trip.

“A trip is particularly important for girls and boys, who often suffer from social exclusion in everyday life due to lack of money,” said Social Affairs Minister Ursula Nonnemacher (Greens). “Relax, have fun and discover new things together with the family – we want to support that with our holiday grants.” (dpa)
