Winning goal 33 seconds before the final siren
The Walkers U16 team started the new season with a commanding 14:3 win against the Fight Pigs Gersau. The Wolfurts showed a strong performance from the start and with a 10:1 lead after the second half, the game was already decided. Nevertheless, the young Walkers stayed focused in the final third and finally celebrated a 14:3 victory that was never in danger. In the second game within 24 hours, the young Walkers team played their age colleagues from Sorengo on Sunday. In an open and exciting game, the Walkers only came from behind in the last third and 33 seconds before the final siren the home side scored the 4:3 winning goal.
Opening success for U13 walkers
The Walkers U13 team also started the new season with a home game at the weekend. The young Wolfurters celebrated a 14:13 victory against the Gekkos Gerlafingen after an exciting game. The Walkers were trailing behind for long periods of the game and it was only in the last section that the Ländle Youngsters equalized to 13:13. The decision was only made in the penultimate minute of the game and after a nice combination, the Walkers still scored the 14:13 winning goal.
Victory and defeat for fighting team
A double weekend was also on the agenda for the Walkers squad and after four defeats in a row, Wolfurt celebrated a 12:8 win against Sayaluca Cadempino Lugano after a great game and thus scored their first points of the new season. In the second game of the weekend against table leaders Bassecourt Eagles, the Walkers again showed a great game, but could not withstand the pressure from the Swiss and had to admit defeat at the end with 6:13.
