Juarez City.- Over the weekend, around 40 thousand people visited the Parque Central Poniente to meet the new giraffe, and it is mostly the minors who are excited to visit it and feed it carrots, lettuce or pumpkins.

Emily Dayana, who went yesterday with her parents to meet the park’s new tenant, said she was very happy to see the animal, to be able to take pictures with it and even feed it.

“I thought the giraffe is very pretty, I would like it to be called Modesto again, because I miss it a lot,” said the youngest.

He announced that the little girl constantly remembers Modesto, since she was one of the minors who mourned the death of the well-known “giant friend of the people of Juarez”, and was happy for the arrival of the new giraffe.

“The children with the death of Modesto became very sad, and now that the new giraffe has arrived they are very excited and we all wanted to come and meet her; My daughter came to Modesto’s funeral and brought her flowers, and now she wanted to come and meet the giraffe,” said Gloria Esmeralda Villafuerte, the girl’s mother.

In front of the new giraffe’s habitat were Norma and Silva Loya, who indicated that they would like the animal to be named Manchas, because of its color.

“We think that its color looks very deep, and we would like it to be called Spots, I really like the name because it has very marked spots,” said Norma.

While Silvia mentioned that she would like the new tenant of Parque Central to have a partner so that they could live together, just as it happened with Modesto and Tomás the ostrich.

“She needs a partner, maybe they’ll bring her, I like that they made her space bigger, because she had very little space before,” said the interviewee.

Rogelio Muñoz, administrator of the Central Park, announced that on Saturday they had the visit of 15,000 people, while on Sunday there were 20,000 families who came to meet the new giraffe.

He added that they have received 164 proposals for possible names as part of the call launched by Parque Central.
