Mexico City.- In Kenya, a sect convinces 58 people to starve to “find Jesus” and the collective suicide was declared a work of terrorism in that country.

The sect responsible is the so-called ‘Good News International Church’ led by the pseudo-preacher Paul Mackenzie Nthenge. Who has already been arrested by the Kenyan police after being accused of terrorist acts and deception.

According to reports, the sect leader convinced hundreds of people to join his cult that seeks “the encounter with Jesus.” Through the fasts that lead to death.

58 people to starve

Police found 39 bodies but there are at least 112 people reported missing in the area where the International Church of Good News sect operated.

Among the people located in the middle of the forest there are several minors and vulnerable women who, despite their situation, refused to conceive glucose water provided by the Kenyan rescue services.

“When we tried to help a woman by giving her glucose water on a spoon, she completely refused. She did not open her mouth and expressed that she did not want support,” said the director of the civil organization Haki Africa, Hussein Khalid.

The case grabbed international headlines due to the increase in operations by sects and their alleged religious leaders. Who put the health of believers at stake in their lies.

Such was the case of this sect that established three villages in the middle of the forest to “purify” its believers through a supposed baptism. But it was a trick to convince them to starve.

The arrested man told the police that if they continued searching they would find more than a thousand bodies buried in the area. And he assured that the police forces and civil organizations were an obstacle to not “find Jesus.”
