A couple from Colonia Oasis assures that they are being threatened and intimidated by residents of their neighborhood after they reported the theft of various objects in the town. They assure that those indicated are engaged in the smuggling of ill-gotten objects and that despite the repeated complaints made, they received no responses from the Misiones Police or the Justice. The complainants are Yanina Soledad Rebord (36) and Gabriel Ponti (37) from Buenos Aires, who four years ago settled in Misiones. “We fled from the madness that was there but it seems that we are more insecure here,” she said.

It all started last Saturday, when they both left their home for a period of 40 minutes, which is about four blocks from the town’s main square. According to the complaint, when they returned around 7:15 p.m. they noticed that unknown persons had entered their home through the rear of the building, into the shed sector. The criminals stole various tools, electrical items and gas bottles and even sought access to other sectors of the house, but without achieving their goal. They believe that if they returned later the damage would be greater.

In the first instance, the police authorities were called, but help only arrived an hour after what happened, with two agents mobilized on foot. For this reason, the complaint was made in the town of Jardín América. But that was only the beginning of the odyssey that, they consider, put his life at risk. The complainants stated that they saw on several occasions, including the day of the event, before and after, a suspicious truck that could be related to the robbery.

They also ensure that the neighbors pointed to the alleged perpetrators, who would be dedicated to marketing the stolen items in Paraguay. However, the Police did not act as expected and believe that the stolen items were removed from the place before an operation was mounted in the area. They even suspect that there was a warning from the authorities.

In this regard, they warned that after the complaint, on several occasions his home was the target of attacks by a group of people. They even stated that they cut off the power to intimidate them. Rebord assured this newspaper that he called 911 several times and did not get answers and that even today he approached the Prosecutor’s Office to file the complaint, but they told him to come back another day.
