A minor under 16 years of age helps his father recover more than $2,000 after a job poorly done

Mr. Pelayo paid thousands of dollars to have his vehicle repaired, but it was not fixed properly. Fortunately, his daughter, only 16 years old, helped him solve the problem. It was she who contacted Telemundo 52 Responde and thus her case was resolved.

Jarilyn is an exemplary young woman and says that she is used to helping her parents with all kinds of problems. In this case, she took it upon herself to figure out how to find support, and thanks to her perseverance, we were able to get answers.

“I have taken classes in history, government, and the constitution, and all rights. Since my parents don’t speak much English, they make me and my sister talk on the phone. And for that you need a lot of patience, ”says Jarilyn Pelayo who helps his parents in various situations.

Her father Matias says that “she has a gift for that.”

And boy does he have it! At 16 years old, it was Jarilyn who investigated and contacted us, so that we could help her father, who assures that, after taking his truck to Pep Boys, in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and paying $2,430.56, they delivered it to him without having solved all the problems he had, even though he insisted.

“I went back three times,” says Matías and assures that one of the lights on the dashboard kept coming on, and it did not pass the smog certification.

“I argued with the manager, and he told me that it was like when you go to the doctor, that you sign that maybe you are going to die. And it’s the same, if they can’t save him, he couldn’t do anything for the car either,” Matías said, adding, “he couldn’t find anything to do anymore.”

That’s when Jarilyn got involved, but even though she reached out to different places and agencies in Georgia, she says “they weren’t helping us and then I heard from my cousin about you, and so we said, let’s try it. Let’s see if they help us!”

His cousin, Jarilyn explained, lives in California, so she helped him communicate with us, and from here we contacted Pep Boys, who replied that they thank us for bringing the case to their attention and assured us that they would resolve it directly with Mr. Pelayo.

Jarilyn says the response was immediate.

“At 8 in the morning the next day they were calling us from Pep Boys saying ‘Oh, we’re sorry for everything, we really didn’t know what had happened’ and that the check was already there,” adds Jarilyn.

“We are very grateful that you have helped us, because if we were really desperate with the problem”, and added, “for the next time if I have another problem, I already know who to contact!”

And we will gladly be ready to help you, Jarilyn. We were really impressed with your perseverance and desire to help your dad, who is obviously very proud of you. Oh, and hello to your cousin!
